Hello there, young engineers,

One year ago, I was in the same position as you are right now...

Within a few months, you need to make one of the most important decisions in your life so far: what do you want to do as your first job and, maybe even more importantly, at which company? I chose to start working as a process engineer for Borealis at the compounding plant in Antwerp. Right from the first job interview, I felt a clear connection with my interviewers. That, together with shared key values between Borealis and me, made it very easy for me to make my decision.

After a well-deserved holiday of two months, I was ready to start a new chapter in my life. Two days before the big day, my mentor phoned to give me some information regarding my first day. Within the compounding plant, it really feels like a family where you are welcomed from the very first day.

During the various job fairs I attended, Borealis always highlighted that every employee gets a valuable job with a recognized responsibility. Well, I can only confirm that. At Borealis, every employee counts, and is respected for their contributions, which is great! I have been working at Borealis for three months now, and being the project leader for three different projects really gives a sense of satisfaction. Luckily, I can always count on my colleagues to guide me on the best way forward, even though everyone’s diary is quite full. Borealis’ slogan ‘Keep discovering, together’ is not just words, it’s day-to-day common practice!

It was challenging to start working with all the Covid-19 restrictions. Nevertheless, Borealis put a lot of effort in giving me the training that I needed to extend my engineering skills as well as to introduce me to various colleagues who have a lot of expertise in specific disciplines. I have only been working here for three months so far, but I can tell you that my knowledge has broadened with regard to both technical and personal skills.

I’m looking forward to what’s to come. If you ask me if I am happy with my choice of Borealis, my answer is absolutely YES! I hope to meet you soon at one of the upcoming student events to share all my experiences with you!
