Meet our Talent Acquisition Specialist Claudia Preslmaier

My journey with Borealis started in autumn 2018, where I joined the Talent Acquisition area supporting the team with different vacancies and recruiting new colleagues in Linz and Vienna. In spring 2020, I also got the opportunity to act as an Employee Service Officer, being responsible for payroll and administration along the whole lifecycle of our employees. For me, this is a great chance to learn and get to know an additional field within Human Resource.

I have a university degree in business and economics and during my studies, I have had the chance to gain valuable experience during different internships in Austria, Italy, and the United States of America. The benefit of going abroad is to extend your horizon, to get to know different cultures and people but also to mention it in your application :-) Working in a truly global company, like Borealis, is something I really appreciate and is one of the reasons I decided to join Borealis after graduating from university. Remembering the “good old days” of my childhood, I had different career paths that I envisioned when growing up. First, I wanted to become a teacher, then a dentist. I also dreamt of becoming a professional horse rider but finally, after graduating from school in 2012, I started to study business and economics to learn how markets work and how businesses and consumers behave. Realizing that I love to work with people, being involved in a variety of challenging and interesting tasks, I found my passion for HR. In my free time, I like to do all kinds of sports especially horse riding and skiing, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

What is something you would like to learn to do? I want to learn more about the processes of recycling polyolefins to understand better the chances we have to contribute to a more sustainable world.

What do you like most about working with Borealis? The international environment and the discovery of going beyond boundaries when it comes to the research and innovation of polyolefins is something I like most about working with Borealis.

What advice would you give a candidate looking to join us? Candidates should be themselves when having an interview with us and they should ask questions, in case they are interested in any specific field.

What is one thing you still have to cross off your bucket list? Actually, I have to admit that my bucket list is quite long :-) yet, if I have to pick one thing, it would be heli-skiing in Canada.

What keeps you motivated? I am a result-orientated person. Therefore, I get motivated when having clear goals, which I want to achieve. Related to recruiting my motivation is to get to know a variety of people from all other the world with different nationalities and hearing different individual stories.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I could imagine living almost everywhere, as long as I can be with the people I care about the most.
