Meet our Talent Acquisition Specialist Lotta Pohjola-Korhonen
Hi, I am Lotta, and I am responsible for recruitments at our production facility in Porvoo, Finland. Even though I have been working in area of HR for more than ten years, I made a detour before finding myself in this profession, but I have and will never regret it.
After graduating from high school, I wanted to become a hair and make-up artist in theatre. I had this dream of working in a theatre for the rest of my life, but after some time, I realized that I wanted to see something else, not only professionally but also locally. I started to work as a travel guide, which was a great experience. I could leave and experience these beautiful countries like India, Italy, Venezuela, Turkey, and Spain and I had the opportunity to combine learning about other cultures and meeting people all over the world with making a living. As a travel guide, I was responsible for my team, so I learned how to motivate and support people, which in return inspired me, and until today, I am benefiting from that experience.
When I came back to Finland, I was somewhat lucky because I found a company that trusted in my skills and gave me a chance to work in their HR department. It was a very new area, but I learned quickly, went back to school, and I became passionate about HR. I have always been keen on developing myself as it helps me to reflect upon things from a different angle. Even though realizing there are so many things to learn and that you will never know everything is sometimes frustrating. However, investing in yourself will always be worth it.
What was your first job? When I was just a teenager, I had my very first summer job and worked in strawberry fields. When turning 18, I earned my pocket money by working as a croupier for many years alongside my studies.
