As Customs Expert you ensure groupwide compliance with Customs, Excise, and Export Control rules and regulations. You will act as a central point of contact in Customs, Excise and Trade compliance matters in Beringen for various internal stakeholders as well as Customs, Excise and Foreign Trade Authorities in Beringen. You will report to the Customs and Trade Compliance Manager.  

 

With your knowledge you will give expert support in case of procurement and supply chain issues regarding Customs, Excise and Export Control matters, in VAT & Intrastat matters regarding Customs and Excise interface, and to group projects in Customs, Excise and Expert Control matters. You will also support Customs, Excise and Foreign Trade audits in Beringen.

 

Furthermore you will: 

 

  • Follow-up of the administration of licenses of local Borealis entities and Borealis AG Beringen and renew if necessary;
  • Ensure up-to-date AEO documentation and procedures and compliance with group strategy;
  • Prepare working instructions for external agents, logistics service providers, and subcontractors;
  • Actively monitor legal developments, inform the organization, and implement changes if applicable;
  • Handle Duty suspensions;
  • Manage Preferential Origin Process;
  • Troubleshoot for CSR’s and sales managers.

About you


You hold a Master’s degree in business administration (or equivalent education), and customs specialist certification or similar post-graduate qualification. You already have at least 10 years of experience in Customs, Excise and Export Control matters. To succeed in this role, you should have a good knowledge of company structure, processes, policies and procedures. You are also a master in using SAP system and you know the basics of VAT.  You have a strong customer focus while doing things with good communication skills and you will be able to manage effectively in a multicultural context. Finally, fluency in written and spoken English and Dutch is necessary in this role.
