Engineer (m/f/d) for Rheology in our Physical Characterization Group

About the role

Location: Austria - Linz

Hours: Full-Time

Type of Contract: Permanent

 

Due to the imminent retirement of one of our valued Engineers, we are currently looking for an Engineer to join our Physical Characterization Group in our Innovation Headquarter in Austria, Linz, having a clear focus on Rheology.

 

Borealis provides solutions and materials that enhance safety in food packaging, automotive and healthcare as well as water, sanitation, energy and communication infrastructure. As a member of our Competence Center “Advanced Characterisation”, you will perform and develop analytical tests in the field of polyolefin rheology and share your expertise in R&D projects and other stakeholders (mainly QC labs, plants, IPR) in Borealis.


Your areas of responsibility are:

  • Operational work with high pressure capillary-, dynamic- and extensional rheometers
  • Lead, coach and coordinate the tasks of lab colleagues to develop new and to improve existing test methods
  • Consultant on rheology related processing issues
  • Consultant for IPR related issues
  • Build and maintain internal and external networks
  • Maintain state-of-the-art material characterization knowledge and capabilities in the lab

About you

 

You hold an academic degree or a degree from a college (Austrian “HTL”) in chemistry, material science or similar and you have several years of experience in the field of polymer rheology, especially polyolefins.


Since our company language is English, you need to have very good knowledge of the language. Any knowledge of German is a bonus. 


Overall, we are looking for a customer oriented and service minded engineer who enjoys taking on new challenges and tasks and who is a creative and analytical thinker. Since safety is our number one priority, we also want you to have excellent awareness of any HSE&Q topics.

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 52.204,04 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
