Process intensification through digitalization is a clearly defined goal in our strategy. Therefore, we are offering this role in the field of Advanced Data Analytics, specifically within our “Digital Innovation Team”, a competence center in our R&D department. This team is working on advanced machine learning methodologies for the digital description and prediction of Borealis core operations.

 

In this role, you will support Borealis’ programs and R&D projects, particularly in the field of reinforced learning. You will develop, validate and deploy data science methodologies on selected Borealis processes.

 

You will:

  • Develop, validate and deploy machine learning solutions
  • Collaborate in teams and R&D programs and projects
  • Identify new digitalization solutions
  • Plan, execute, lead and connect project tasks
  • Maintain and develop further procedures and routines
  • Publish latest innovations in agreement with our IPR department and R&D
  • Actively maintain a close internal and external network with universities, research institutes and software suppliers   
     

About you

  • Ph.D. degree in Process Engineering and/or Polymer Physics or in case of a master’s education several years of professional experience in relevant fields
  • Excellent knowledge in machine learning methods, particularly in reinforced learning techniques, software coding and handling big data
  • Good knowledge in industrial processes, polymer properties and testing 
  • Good overview of data science and emerging technologies 
  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

 

We are looking for an analytical pioneer who knows how to apply the principles of scientific rigor. At the same time, this role is for someone who is eager to translate their observations into clear and useful explanations and who enjoys sharing their knowledge and actively collaborating with others. This includes peers, university partners, software suppliers, and other stakeholders in projects.

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 60.212,18 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer hybrid working, a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
