Central Logistics Specialist

Will you be our new recruit who is ready to tackle the challenges of the cracker products world?
We are currently looking for a new match who takes on the position of Central Logistics Specialist for our Business Unit Hydrocarbons & Energy, based in Mechelen (Belgium).

As a Logistics specialist/coordinator, you will focus on the planning and scheduling of gas and chemical shipments, pipeline operations and administrative activities related to the buying and selling of petrochemical products. You take the responsibility for the smooth and cost optimal logistics execution of commercial deals and contracts  made by the commercial team and you give guidelines on short-term imbalances and provide optimized logistics instructions to trade partners and logistic service providers. 

These will be your main responsibilities:

  • Day to day execution of operational flows of gas and liquid shipping (VLGC, handy size, coasters) for cracker feedstocks and products for all European locations.
  • Provide input, suggestions and logistics expertise to the commercial teams to improve future performance of contracts and work actively on new ideas.
  • Optimise logistical costs by using optimal shipping arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant safety, environmental, quality and sustainability certification standards in the shipping, terminal operations and storage processes for the assigned portfolio and develop and implement recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide and understand operational input to assure optimal demurrage handling/recovery.
  • Contribute to supplier performance review sessions with the goal to drive continuous improvements of service level and contracts.

About you

You have obtained your Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Logistics/ Economy/Business/Engineering) and can already look back on at least 5 years of (maritime) experience in a similar role, preferably in a (petro)chemical environment. Numbers are your second nature; you excel in Excel and have (no must) SAP experience. You master English on a professional level, knowledge of any additional language is welcome.
You have great analysing, planning and scheduling skills and have an eye for detail. You make well profound and sometimes quick decisions. On top of that you can work independently but are also a team worker and contribute to achieving excellent results. You demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills, which help you to develop robust and successful relationships with your internal and external stakeholders. You demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethics and multi-cultural awareness. In addition, you are stress-resistant and adapt easily to a fast moving, challenging environment.  As cherry on the cake,you see yourself as a solid performer but also have a healthy ambition to learn and grow into a more complex role in our logistics team.
