Electricity Sourcing Manager

About the role

Location: Belgium - Mechelen

Hours: Full-Time

Type of Contract: Permanent

Make Clean Energy Real!

At Borealis, we don’t just talk about sustainability—we make it a reality. We’re looking for an Electricity Sourcing Manager to drive the expansion of our electricity portfolio, covering both renewable and conventional electricity sourcing. This role is key to shaping the future of energy sourcing at Borealis, taking full ownership of our end-to-end electricity procurement activities. If you're ready to make a real impact and take your career to the next level, this is your chance!

In this high-energy, international role at Group level, you’ll be at the forefront of our electricity sourcing strategy, securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and managing all aspects of our electricity procurement across Europe. Based in Mechelen, you’ll have the opportunity to travel up to 20% across Europe, building partnerships and leading the charge toward a more sustainable electricity portfolio.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the electricity sourcing strategy – Scout, negotiate, and secure long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for renewable electricity, while also managing procurement for conventional electricity sources, ensuring a balanced and strategic approach.
  • Own the contracts – Take full responsibility for negotiating and finalizing legal agreements, collaborating closely with internal teams such as legal, credit, power trading, and public affairs.
  • Build strategic partnerships – Grow an extensive external network in the European electricity sector, staying ahead of market trends and sourcing the best opportunities for Borealis.
  • Drive sustainability beyond PPAs – Support additional initiatives like utility integration, carbon reduction, and carbon capture projects, making an even bigger impact.
  • Be our energy market expert – Stay on top of industry developments, identify strategic opportunities, and bring fresh insights to drive our sustainability agenda forward.

About you

We’re looking for a results-driven energy professional with a passion for sustainability and a talent for deal-making. You should have:

  • A degree in Economics, Law, or Engineering, with a strong commercial, energy, or financial focus.
  • 5+ years of experience in European electricity procurement and contracting. Experience in negotiating and closing PPAs is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of European power markets (especially Central, Western, and Nordic regions) and a strong grasp of renewable and conventional energy sourcing strategies.
  • A knack for translating complex legal and commercial issues into clear, structured contract clauses.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English. Additional languages (such as German, Dutch, Swedish, or Finnish) are a bonus.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to translate complex matters in easy-to-understand key messages to colleagues and senior management.
  • The ability to work independently and manage projects with precision and attention to detail. Experience in project and risk management is an advantage.
  • A commercial mindset, high ethical standards, and a drive for sustainability—you don’t just accept the status quo, you challenge it.
