Are you our Business Unit Logistics coordinator ready to tackle the challenges of the cracker feedstocks world?
We are currently looking for a professional who takes on the position of Logistics & Chartering Coordinator for our Business Unit Hydrocarbons & Energy based in Mechelen (Belgium).

 

As a Logistics & Chartering Coordinator, your role will focus on the planning, scheduling and operations of liquid and gas shipments, related to the buying and selling of petrochemical products. You give guidelines on short-term imbalances and provide cost-optimized logistics instructions to trade partners and logistic service providers. In addition, you take the responsibility to identify and negotiate vessel charters (Spot Charter and/or Time Charter vessels) for the smooth and cost optimal logistics execution of commercial deals and contracts made by the commercial team.

 

It is your role to:

 

  • Screen, identify and negotiate short term shipping contracts (Time charter/spot charter deals) in close cooperation with the commercial teams’ shipping needs, and optimising logistical costs by using optimal shipping arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant safety, environmental, quality and sustainability certification standards in the shipping, terminal operations and storage processes for the assigned portfolio and develop and implement recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide input, suggestions and logistics expertise to the commercial teams to improve future performance of contracts and work actively on new ideas.
  • Capture market intelligence through the follow-up of the main shipping activities in EU (with help of brokers) to support commercial team in understanding market dynamic.
  • Manage and approve costs and direct contact with accounting on invoicing secondary costs, e.g. rent, surveying costs, freight, bunker, etc... .
  • Run month-end closing procedures.
  • Analyse & report logistics and quality incidents.
  • Contribute to supplier performance review sessions with the goal to drive continuous improvements of service level and contracts.

About you

 

You have your Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (Logistics/ Economy/Business/Engineering). You are known with vessel scheduling and planning activities and enjoy working with numbers. You are having an interest and knowlegde of liquid/gas shipping markets and are comfortable negotiating short term chartering contracts with shipbrokers/-owners. 


Together with the team, you contribute to achieving excellent results. You demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills, which help you to develop robust and successful relationships with your internal and external stakeholders. You demonstrate a high level of integrity, ethics and multi-cultural awareness. In addition, you are stress-resistant and adapt easily to a fast moving, challenging environment. Finally, you are fluent in both written and spoken English.
