Do you have deep understanding in polymer chemistry, structures, thermodynamics, and the influence it has on today’s high voltage cable insulation systems? Our R&D is organized into different competence centers spread across three European Innovation Centers. Several hundred scientists, experts, technicians and engineers work together on innovation projects to shape our future products. This role belongs to the competence center “Energy & HPPE Applications”. We know that energy transmission & electrification are the future, which makes this area a key strategic priority for Borealis. Numerous Energy Scientists and Experts constantly collaborate and share their expertise to push boundaries and make our materials fit for future demands and applications such as HVDC and UHVDC. Lower energy losses, transmitting power over longer distances, higher operating temperatures – there is so much to discover and accomplish, and we hope you are up for the challenge!
In more detail, you will:
- Facilitate and coordinate research, technology and application development in line with our innovation objectives, with a specific focus on insulation and semicon materials for HVDC and AC power cables
- Participate in R&D projects, collaborate with different scientists and drive the development of new polymers and compounds within the Energy sector
- Work closely with the lab and testing teams in our inhouse testing facilities
- Connect with our commercial team and contribute your expertise along the whole value chain
- Collaborate with external networks and partners (e.g. academia, conferences, forums)
- Potentially be involved in standardization bodies and certification
- Lead and/or support full IPR coverage of our innovations in close cooperation with Borealis IPR specialists, Patent Portfolio Owners and others
- Follow high scientific and safety standards in your daily work
About you
- PhD or Master's degree in Polymer Science/Engineering, Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry, High Voltage engineering or similar
- Proven experience in testing and polymer properties for HVDC power cable applications, acquired over many years in the cable industry
- Written and spoken communication skills in English

Your salary package will reflect your profile, experience and the specifics of the country/location you apply for.
Should you join us in one of our Austrian locations and according to Austrian law , we offer compensation based on the collective labor agreement starting at EUR 78.384,- annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) plus a yearly bonus, and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background.
