Are you passionate about developing new products and sustainable innovative solutions that will help shape the future & improve the world we live in?

Do you find it exciting to work in cross-functional international teams in a growing global company that has sustainability as the heart of their strategy?

Our R&D is organized in different competence centers spread across Europe in three different Innovation Centres. This role belongs to “Compounds & Recyclates” and is located in Sweden.

Borealis is a project driven organization and for each of our Innovation Projects, Scientists and Experts from different competence centers and countries come together, to develop and optimize new products together. Each project team member adds their expertise to the team and helps drive the overall ambition of the project.

Your expertise will be in designing and developing compound materials with focus on filled polyethylene from small to full scale, and follow their application testing for various businesses, with a special focus in the Wire & Cable applications.

You will deal with various types of polyethylene polymers such as low density, linear low density and high density polyethylene, in combination with various types of fillers for the desired conductivity and/or flame retardancy.

At Borealis, sustainability and polymer recycling are high on our agenda and this role is no different when it comes to using recyclates also in Wire & Cable materials. As an example, we are using our Borcycle™ C chemical recycling process to recycle crosslinked polyethylene (PE) types such as XLPE and PE-X into recycled polyethylene which can then replace virgin PE.

About you

You hold a Ph.D. in Polymer Science/Engineering, Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry or Chemistry with several years of experience as a scientist or researcher in polyolefin compound and a focus on Polyethylene.

At our Innovation Centre in Sweden, we have more than 15 different nationalities, which also requires you to have written and spoken communication skills in English and an ability to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.

We are looking for someone who is an innovative self-starter with a pragmatic mind-set. You enjoy working with your colleagues, also across borders and locations, either to learn from them or to pass on your knowledge to them by acting as a coach and mentor.

You like expanding your knowledge and bringing in new ideas, approaches or methods into the team and you are encouraging new ideas from others across Borealis. Your way of thinking is highly structured and analytical but also flexible when it comes to collaboration in projects or challenges in your daily work.
