Legal Counsel (m/f/d)

About the role

Location: Austria - Vienna

Hours: Full-time

Type of Contract: Permanent


To strengthen the legal team in our head office in Vienna, we are looking for a Legal Counsel who will advise on assigned legal areas of law and support defined business areas from a legal point of view. 

We need your expertise to…

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts in different business areas with a focus on commercial and intellectual property related matters (e.g. supply, license, cooperation, non-disclosure agreements)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable corporate laws and internal corporate rules
  • Train Borealis employees on legal and ethics topics on a regular basis and act as an “Ethics Ambassador”
  • Assist in selecting, contracting, supervising external lawyers for assigned legal tasks and projects while Borealis’ standards and goals are safeguarded and adhered

Additionally, you will…

  • Monitor legal developments (legislation, case law) and update the legal department and business partners about important changes
  • Work independently and in teams, take initiative and be self-motivated

About you


As our ideal candidate, you can combine a Law Degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a reputable international law firm or in the legal department of an international company. A Master Degree (LL.M.) is a plus, as well as additional education in engineering/chemistry, would be an advantage. You are well known for your problem-solving skills and have the ability to coordinate cross-over issues from companywide projects. The ability to deal with many issues at the same time and the willingness to be an assertive leader are further assets you can bring into this role. Finally, an excellent command of the English language but also presentation and communication skills are a must.

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement starting at EUR 66.400 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
