We are pleased to announce that Borealis is looking for a Manager Strategic Projects, who will lead and/or support strategic projects on corporate, BU or functional level for projects with key strategic dimension and cross-functional relevance. The future incumbent will significantly contribute to Borealis Group Strategy Development and Implementation in a rapidly transforming industry environment, manage complex strategic assignments for different parts of the Borealis organization and interact with a wide set of senior stakeholders across the company and its owners.

The candidate will be part of the central Strategy & Growth Portfolio team at Borealis HQ in Vienna, and drive strategic projects as part of the implementation of our Group Strategy. In addition to providing recommendations to senior managements and key stakeholders in the company, the candidate will also.  be responsible for training the broader organization on best practice project management, financial and strategic analyses, identify strategic opportunities and prepare outstanding verbal communication and written presentations on key deliverables.

The future Manager Strategic Planning will…:

  • Oversee as the Business Project Manager all aspects of various strategic projects in their entire project lifecycle from the set up phase to the execution and successful delivery until the closing.
  • Act as ad hoc support and information source for senior management on strategy, industry and market topics
  • Set-up, steer, develop and manage cross-functional project teams in a multifunctional & multi-cultural context and establish & maintain the communication channels to interdependent projects in the entire project portfolio.  You will also, engage, motivate and involve project members by creating an inspiring vision on the programs contribution
  • Manage the evaluation and negotiation of assigned strategic opportunities, and group development activities. Act as a team member in others, to generate substantial an attractive business growth for Borealis and/or its Owners.
  • Conduct Portfolio Management of Borealis Group growth and strategic projects
  • Manage key contacts and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to senior management 
  • Identify and propose strategic opportunities (e.g., growth, partnerships).




About you

  • University degree in relevant area such as business economics,engineering/master+MBA, PhD with subsequent management experience or equivalent business experience
  • Excellent knowledge of project management, strategy development, portfolio management, financial and market analyses
  • Several years of professional experience, with either a background in management consulting or relevant industry experience, ideally in an international setting
  • Proven strategic skills and commercial awareness; strong conceptual skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Track record in leadin cross-functional project teams and handling all related project and stakeholder management tasks
  • A broad technical and commercial understanding, relevant background and experience in the chemical industry and solid graspof the structure and operation of the petrochemical (or similar) industry and its value chain 
  • High level of commitment, initiative and motivation of self and others; demonstrated desire to drive performance
  • Effective spoken and written English, excellent communication, analytical and visualization skills
  • Entrepreneurial, impact-oriented and respectful attitude to connect well with the collaborative, open and strongly values-driven culture at Borealis

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 100.000 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
