We are currently looking for an Engineer in the competence centre ‘Compounds and Recyclates’ team. In this role, you will work in innovation projects focusing on compound process improvements and developments based on polypropylene and polyethylene materials. This role will also support by upscaling our compounds solutions to production assets for commercialization. You will build up technical competence in the responsible fields for the whole company and provide innovation in accordance with the business strategy of the company. As we are moving towards a circular economy with a high focus on sustainability, you will contribute on a daily basis to add value on high-quality recyclate-based compounds. You shall act as a role model according to the HSE principles of Borealis

Your key tasks:

  • Independently plan, develop and lead process improvements in compounding and extrusion
  • Actively contribute to innovation projects and internal technical networks
  • Act as an interface between R&D, operations and various business communities, including external partners, as well as providing technical support and problem solving 
  • Be key contact to requestors for specialized compounding trials as well as independently plan, conduct and analyze these specialized trials and processes
  • Provide sound technical expertise to peers and customers
  • Develop and implement new methods, technologies, process improvements and working practices
  • Upscale developed compounds to our production assets
  • Document and report results as a contribution to Innovation Projects, patents and publications
  • Actively contribute to internal and external co-operations (institutes, universities, suppliers, customers) as well as technology scouting
  • Give trainings, presentations and compounding related topics

About you

You are the right candidate for this role, if you have a Master or Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science/Engineering, Polymer Physics or Chemistry with experience in extrusion and compounding technologies. You have a good knowledge about polyolefin structure properties and their relationship with end material performance as well as good good analytical skills. As English is our company language, you are fluent in English. Last but not least, you are passionated about recycling technologies.

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 60 212,18 annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
