Borealis is a global leader in advanced and sustainable chemicals and material solutions. Sustainability and innovation are core part of Borealis strategy and we are now seeking enforcement to our Digital Solutions team as Department Manager for Operations solutions.

 

The Department Manager is responsible for a team ensuring our digital solutions for the Operations business unit have high operability and high cyber security state. Supported departments in Operations consists of production (including MES area), maintenance, reliability, engineering, technical development, material handling and logistics, 
 

As a Department manager you will: 

• Lead, organize, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of senior specialists and experts across multiple sites in Europe, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, including budget, to achieve the team’s objectives.
• Empower your team with the necessary skills and coaching to thrive while executing the IT strategy for Borealis, focusing on operational excellence, diversity, information security, and agile practices.
• Drive tactical & operational vendor management, including contract negotiations, change requests, claim management, and service level management, ensuring seamless collaboration and high service standards.
• Oversee a complex portfolio of group-wide applications, managing licensing costs, and troubleshooting alongside cross-functional teams to maintain high operability and security.

About you

• You hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Automation/Process Engineering, Chemicals, or a related field.
• You bring over 10 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record in managing operations within an international work environment.
• You have demonstrated success in leading teams of specialists and experts, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and leadership, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• You are proficient in English at a business level.
• You possess experience with industrial digital tools and have a deep understanding of plant operations. Your technical acumen is complemented by a strategic mindset and the ability to drive digital transformation.
