As a Renewable Energy Sourcing Manager, you will be a key player in driving the growth of Borealis’ renewable electricity portfolio across Europe. Your contributions will shape Borealis' sustainability strategy and have a lasting impact on our Base Chemicals and Polyolefins locations. This is an international role based in Mechelen, with up to 20% travel across Europe.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the growth of Borealis’ renewable electricity portfolio by scouting, negotiating, and securing long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with external partners, while managing all commercial, risk, relationship, compliance, and administrative aspects.
- Manage and cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders, such as legal, credit, power trading and public affairs teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and alignment. As contract owner, you are the end-responsible to negotiate the legal contract until signature, with the support of the internal stakeholders,.
- Build an extensive external network across the renewable energy sector in Europe, maintaining a PPA intelligence database and staying up-to-date with market trends, preferred projects and opportunities.
- Provide insights and support sustainability projects beyond PPAs, such as utility integration and carbon emissions initiatives like carbon capture and usage.
- Act as a key market expert by staying informed about renewable energy developments and identifying strategic opportunities for Borealis.

About you
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Economics, Law or Engineering with a strong focus on commercial, energy or financial aspects. An MBA or Master’s in Management is an advantage.
- Over 5 years of proven experience in European energy sourcing and contracting, ideally with a successful track record in negotiating and closing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- In-depth knowledge of European power markets, especially Central, Western European, and Nordic regions, with a focus on the renewable energy sector and related technologies.
- Strong affinity with and a strong interest in drafting legal contracts (PPAs), being able to translate complex matters in structured and understandable contract clauses.
- Able to work independently in a structured way towards a set of targets, with an eye for detail and high accuracy. Proven project and risk management skills is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, with fluency in additional languages such as German, Dutch, Swedish, or Finnish considered an asset.
- In addition to energy contracting expertise, you will be a commercial talent with a realistic sense of business, high ethical standards, and personal integrity. You are passionate about sustainability and eager to drive change beyond the status quo.
